I have a Bedford upcoming for NAHBS and have decided to go with black as the main color. In speaking with Kelly, I have tentatively decided to go with a white head tube with red decals, a smallish whte band on the seat tube, again with a red decal and a white band on the downtube with a red decal.
I am also considering some lug outlining, white or red, I think.
Any pictures of black bikes with any or none of the above attributes would be helpful and appreciated.
Thanks.

I can't search for a link now but try to find a pic of Mike Barry's black bike.
I think he rode it at the Ramble.
Very handsome.

Oz been talking to Master Kelly ..
Oz thinks he's promulgating a concept similar to Prof. Brooks Masterpiece.
Your bra is in Black leather / dual stitched red cord.
It's being custom hand crafted as we speak. :D

Each builder has a bike pictured there. Takes some clicking...
I've always liked black paint that had a metallic fleck in it...something that really sparkles in the sunlight....

I'm partial to straight black and tan. Pearl or metal flake can look good on black but straight clear black always looks the deepest and most rich and wet to me.

It might be the only Serotta with black paint and black decals.

That would be mine, now with 20% MORE BLACK!
(It's a Joe Bell repaint. Grant was/still is opposed to black bikes.)

That's the sharpest Rivendell I have seen based on paint and components. Doesn't look like Grant's sort of bike and if what you say is true of his opposition to black colored Rivendells then it seems to jive with his silly take on how a bike should be.

Have you had a look at the gallery of bikes over at the Parlee website? Lots of black, and lots of nice bikes. Perhaps too much bare carbon for your needs, but, man, many are hot!

I pulled this off of a Roadbikereview thread. I think this black bike is perfectly done. Especially for a new build of a classic styled frameset.

And what's amazing to me about Joe Bell, is that last year or the year before -- when I was talking with him about a repaint for my Rivendell -- I mentioned to him that a friend had sent him a Riv for a black paint job.
And Joe, off the top of head, said, "Oh yes, John Segal."
And that black repaint had happened about 8 years before!

I couldn't ask for a better $850.00 frame. It's oversized 6061 -- there is really not that much too it! It's stiff, light, and (somewhat) comfortable. The whole buying experience and requisite image is definitely a bit 'indie' (in a good way).
There are some issues with the finish and design -- the BB may not be perfectly 68mm wide (an issue with the Ultra-Torque) and the dropouts are somewhat 'shallow' and narrow making it difficult to quickly seat the Powertap.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive winter / training bike. Or to those (like me) without enough dough for that carbon HSG...
