What do you prefer? Any brand / model in particular?

I find ear buds are a bit uncomfortable when working out because of (ok - I may be unusual here) sweat! I also find I pull 'em out on occasion. I am looking for something better. Mind you - I do not ride with them - only on the trainer or at the gym. I prefer being able to hear cars when they honk at me and flip me off...

I like the cheap Grado phones -- not very adjustable -- which may be a comfort issue for you -- but they're light, they stay put, and they sound much better than the ear buds I've tried.

Earbuds are the only things that stay in place.
I use a Sony pair with inline volume.

Skull Candy! Better fit and better sound than any that I have tried. Pretty cheap too. you can catch them on sale at staples for about $10.

I use these. They work well and stay put.

Earbuds here.
I'd love to have a pair of the Monster brand only because I like their non-tangle wires, but the price is ridiculous. Currently using a $15 pair of Panasonics.

Has anyone tried a pair of the 'in-canal' style earbuds??? Worth it? Like these:

I think they are worth every penny for sound quality, comfort, and noise isolation (not cancellation.)

But...

I generally wear them while I work, on airplanes, or on other public transportation options.

The sound is brilliant, and allows one to be in "your own little world."

That means, however, that they are dangerous when you are in public.

They are also not very secure from an exercise standpoint. I wear them under a helmet when I snowboard in the back country, or when I ride a bike on very isolated roads. When running, they work loose.

In a city, you could walk in front of a honking car without hearing it.

I just use what came with my I-pod on the trainer. I like to hear a little feedback from my fluid trainer. I've got some Denon buds that cancel most outside noise, but only use them while flying.

I use sennheiser PMX80's when running or on the trainer. http://www.sennheiserusa.com/private_headphones_sport-line_502542

They don't work so well with a helmet (nor would I wear anything riding), but they're great for other purposes. They squeeze a little and stay in solidly over uneven terrain. Earbuds always fall out for me.

I use these on my trainer too. I do not ride outdoors with headphones on. They do make a few models that might work better with a helmet.

I buy the cheapest because I go through my headphones quickly. I ruin them while cycling in bad weather or exercising hard (sweat). However, I did once own an expensive pair, and I kept the bud covering which I put on the cheap pairs.

My current set is Skull Candy, but I did get a few sets at the price of $5/each.

I use a different Sennheiser headphone that is "sweatproof and water resistant" and has been working for me for the past year through running and biking - good and bad weather.

I also use the PMX80's, great for running, trailrunning, working out and on the trainer. I have not found any earbuds that will stay in during 'rough/bouncing' activities.

Another Vote for Shure. One other advantage is that the cable has two sections a short section and an extension. I use the short section only and can put that right at the neck of my shirt, that way the cable does not get in the way when you move your arms around.

None of the above. I've tried the ear buds, hate 'em. I've tried training with my AKG 240's on, that was a dumb idea. My training ain't quiet, as pair of Nady PA speakers and a Hafler 220 make damn sure of that. The 18" sub was a bit much...
