steve rex is building a new frameset for me. lugged, old std. reach brakes. i am going to use some "nos" chorus 10sp. aluminum components. however, i want to have an aluminum 50-34, 110 crankset. i was wondering about "davnci
cranksets. anybody tried them?

and not your exact ring config, but do you know about this one:

don't think a 10 speed chain cares if your crank is 9 speed.

thanks for the velo-orange info, but i need a 50-34. will velo-orange offer that crankset with 50-34. and, the "q-factor" on their crank is right up there with triples. oh well.

Whole bunch of NOS Campagnolo Centaur aluminum compact cranks on ebay. Both UT and square taper. I got one for $15(square taper).

I've got Davinci cranksets on 2 bikes and think they're great. Finished very nicely are pretty light as well. (Also one of the few options for running 180mm cranks and a 50-34.) FWIW, I'm using FSA chainrings and a Phil square taper BB. Hope that helps.

I think it depends on the individual rings. I tried running 10-speed with a 9-speed Stronglight chainring, and the chain (Wipperman) hung up on the teeth. A 10-speed FSA ring cured the problem.

I think TooTall at v-salon is a big fan of the DaVinci cranks. You should check with him on these.
Made by White Industries.

X2 on the White Industries comment -- I called a while back and White are the folks daVinci contracts with.
They look really nice.
