D2R2 for its hot and tough ride.

Highlander for its great memories/roads I've shared with dear friends at TDFL and Rambles (THANK YOU dbrk!)

Sunset commutes after work for its peace I've found in God.

What's yours?

The Patrick Dempsey Challenge out of Lewiston/Auburn, Maine. In addition to Patrick Dempsey, "guest riders" included George Hincapie, Dave Zabriske, Ed King and Stephen Roche. Approx. 1500 riders started with about 700 doing the Century. Dempsey and guest riders did the 50 miler. It was for a great cause and a great time was had by all.

For me the most memorable rides of this year where:

1) A 30 miler ride (cut short) where I got caught on a lightning storm! IMO, the scariest event I've ever been... The might of mother nature is something not to ever forget!

2) A 50 miler during the end of rain... I have never seen before TWO rainbows in the sky or a rainbow in a 360 Deg. shape! It was almost a religious experience! There is a big overpass bridge that I cross on my rides and the rainbow practically went around it!

3) Of course... Every ride where I make it home safe with no flats is also a memorable ride!

For me it was the Étape du Tour in France which rode the entire Ventoux stage of the TdF. The first 94 miles were great and had about 6500 feet of climbing. The 13 mile ascent of Ventoux was just gruesome with temperatures in excess of 90°F. I rode the first 94 miles somewhat conservatively, wanting to save something for Ventoux. That proved to be a mistake. My ascent of Ventoux could not have been any more feeble. Still, I finished in the middle of the pack after not approaching the event as a race.

Actually enjoying riding a bike again this late summer after quitting riding/racing 23+ years ago. Thanks in large part to a member of this [and other] cycling forums Taylorj and Tom Kellog at Spectrum Cycles.

My most memorable? Spending our 25th anniversary pedaling down the Danube River (Donau Radweg 1) through Germany and Austria for 8 days. Not at all hard but mightily enjoyable; all the interesting people we met, the great foods we ate, the terrific beers we drank, the sights, sounds and smells. Did I mention food?

Rides w/ Serotta Pete and Tiretrax in CO.

Good fun, good company, decent weather (well most of it  ), beautiful scenery, what more could you ask for?
