I have installed my new kmc x10sl chain with missing link.

The outer plate of the missing link is not as close as other links and a bit very little loose.

Is this normal?

Thanks.

Apparently so. I checked my KMC chain with its' Missing Link and the outer plates have a teeny (that's a metric term) bit more clearance than do the riveted outer plates. I've used KMC chains with their removable links for years and have had no issues at all with the links.

Yes, KMC master links tend to have more side clearance than the other links and in general, their chains have more side clearance than other brands when new.

The missing link made to fit a Campy UN chain would probably fit better than the one intended for chain. The width across the inside of the plates should be about .004 inch narrower.

The link should not be too tight, however. It's normal to have .004-.008 inch of clearance between the inner and outer plates.
