Yes, I know my stem sticks up too high.

Not necessarily a thing of great beauty, but I am having the best time playing with and riding this bike. Now maybe I am "suffering" with newbikeitis, but I think I can see the forest for the trees.

I won't do loaded touring and I have the feeling it is not at its best doing that due to shortish chainstays. But the geo is quite Riv-like and forgiving for an all arounder ride.

Not very expensive, bought slightly used. Added B17, subbed out heavy wheels for 10 year old Ultegra/Open Pros.

Things I am enjoying:

Fuji Ergo bars are a better bend for me than my typical Ritchey bars.

Interrupters are a nice alternate hand position and braking option.

Elcheapo lightish Chinese steel feels really great cruising or standing on it.

Elcheapo build kit works just like ones costing 3X.

Geometry is a trip: 73 seat, 71 head, 8 drop, 44 stays, fork rake 55 - I like it for my new weight more forward riding position on Brooks.

And I found a pre-recall Salsa SUL quill that the local coater powdered a new for $5.

Design flaw: spare spoke holders on non-drive side chain stay in the way of kickstand top mount. Who uses a kickstand anyway? Me on some bikes. Such the sensible invention.

I don't care too much if it gets banged or wet cause I know I can get another one if it "wears out???"

Sweet. My right shoulder looks at that handlebar height and smiles...

Sounds like a good example of how high quality wheels can transform a bike.

You scored--Fuji has sold very good touring bikes since the early 1980's.
I haven't worked on your exact model but on a few from the last 5 years, the
bikes are well designed and good handling.

I like that bike a lot.
