I've seen packs of riders scouting segments of the route over the past couple of weekends, as we live near two of the hills. Hats off to the animals that tackle this ride.

Short video from 2007...Canton Avenue...37% grade.

Cold temps at the start but a dry and sunny day. I'll say it again...the folks that make all 13 hills without falling off the bike are animals.

It's that time of the year...I saw quite a few cyclists scouting the course again over the weekend, as the first three climbs are in my hood. Here's a trailer that someone composed from last year's ride. Looks like the weather will be cool, but sunny and dry. The video portion starts about 2:30 into the trailer. Best of luck folks.

I visited Canton about 3 weeks ago for the first time. I don't even understand how it's possible to climb unless you wheelie all the way up. There is no grip on the cobbles.

Oh, forecast calls for snow this year too.

Steevo is the worlds nicest dude and he's going to win it again.

Cold day for those crazed two wheelers, as I headed out the driveway in the morning with light snow on the road. It looks like a decent showing with 160 cyclists participating. It was Steevo again...7th time.

Chapeau

My brother lives on Bigelow street near the hazelwood end point, some wicked crazy hills in his neighborhood with some crappy roads and parked cars and traffic to boot. Great view of the city from his porch, but it would be one hell of a hard ride. I like that area of Pitt, I was just there this morning, didn't know about the race though.

Great article. A bunch of "friends" of mine took me up Suffolk on my 2nd or 3rd ever group ride. I did a LOT of walking on that hill...

How is this event timed? Just hill by hill?

Bigelow is a good street to ride, not the steepest, but definitely long enough to put a hurting on you. It's become my "training hill" of sorts. It's pretty free of traffic, so I can struggle up at my own pace. ;)

That's very impressive to say the least... Maybe the extra person on board gets you more grip to the rear?

Thanks for the link. That was a good tour of a city I've never visited, but if I do it will not be in winter.
