i know that i should be getting advice from my doctor and pt, but i was curious if anyone here has fully torn their achilles tendon and then had surgery to repair.

how long until you were on the bike? how long did it take until you felt completely healed and were riding at the same level you were before you got hurt?

please share your experiences.

thanks-

A good friend ruptured his skiing (well, crashing). I was right next to him and heard it POP.

Don't remember the stages of recovery, but he was full up in about 11 months. Much limited activity prior-- the biggest threat is re-injury but you can be pretty active soon after operation if you're careful.

Sorry-- heal well! Chris

My friend popped his achilles, shortly after he had fully rehabbed a torn patella. I remember it being another long rehab but I'm not sure how bicycling relates to such an injury (which is non-impact).

Supposedly after an AT surgery, your AT is stronger but it's not easy to get over the (psychological )feeling of reinjury.
