I bumped into a complete bike with 5 to 6k miles with full Campy Record and Proton wheels. I'm not sure whether I'm that interested in the frame, so I'm mostly curious what folks would say the parts are worth.

Winter is around the corner and I'm also itching for a new pair of ski boots. Timing might make the boots a smarter purchase (though the shop quoted me $700 before any of the custom work that they were recommending :crap: )

It mainly depends on what bike they are on. If it is a Serotta Ottrott vs a Surly Pacer there is a slight price difference ;) . Personally I don't think the components would be worth more than $4 - $500.

check eBay. the wheels will get around $325-$400 depending on condition. the drive train will sell for the most if sold seperately. shifters $185-225, rd $90-135, crank $100 (if near new) BB $85, Fd $45, Cassette $100+ can you tell i've priced this stuff before?

The frame is a 2/3 carbon Raleigh ~ the Prestige, to be specific.
And the drivetrain seems to be in very good shape.

Again, the timing might make the ski boots make a heck of a lot more sense, but it would seem that this would be a good way to try another bike and potentially build a very nice bike if I pick up a frame that I'm interested in.

2/3 carbon raleigh frames are selling for less than $300 on eBay, full carbons are less than $500. So if it is a good deal and you sell it later and don't mind parting it out yea it's a cheap way to try out another bike or pick up parts. saw a steel Bianchi with 2004 campy chorus, open pro wheels go for $675 about a month ago. a rare deal.

That's kind of what I was thinking...
