It might sound "corny" but has a lot of truth as to why one joins and what it means to those who do join.....

Semper Fi!!!!

Absolutely!

My son and I had some very long conversations when he told us that he wanted to enlist in the Corps. He was 17 at the time and had to get our permission. When asked why the Marines, as opposed to my alma mater the Air Force, his simple answer was: "...because of the Corps values and traditions, I want to achieve something." I couldn't say no.

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.

:) When I enlisted, after graduating from college, my father's words were, "Did I send you to college to become stupid?"

Had the pleasure of attending my "umpteenth" Ball Saturday night... always very, very motivating. Semper Fi, Marines! Happy Birthday!
