I'm having issues w/a couple of the SS bolts on my Ritchey stem.
Contacted Ritchey and they are sending me some extra ones. Now I'm wondering if I should find my own M5 bolts and just scrap they original ones.
Any experiences out there?
Thanks

I have been using for a few years and no problems. What type of issues are you having with them?

I've had a WCS 4-Axis stem on one of my bikes for over a year. No problems at all, including quite a few races.

Greg
What kind of problems? I've never had any with their stems.
Buying bolts for high-stress applications at a local hardware can be risky if you don’t know what grade of bolts you need and/or are getting.
I've never had a bolt problem with any of at least six 4-axis stems I've owned. I keep a supply of M5 x 16-25mm stainless steel bolts on hand, but the problem is the 4-axis bolts have captive spherical washers that might be tough to get off, so they can be transferred to a new bolt. It's not a good idea to use no washer or a flat washer against the spherical surface of the stem.

Just a suggestion. Available at any decent bike shop.

I'll give the Ritchey bolts another shot.
I need to make sure the wrench sits well inside, because I managed to round off 2 of them.
Thanks

It's easy to over torque these. Also, make sure your 4mm allen is in decent shape. I"ve rounded a few of these myself due to a well worn allen. Also, don't use the Bhondus ball tip allen wrenches on these bolts. Make sure you use a flat tip one.

rounding off a stem bolt? try the ritchey torque key wrench. fits right, tightens right.

Replace your wrench. It's possible it's worn out. Tools DO wear.
I rode the carbon alloy version of this stem. Basically alloy wrapped in carbon. After a year, the stem showed wear from sweat, to a point that it needed to be replaced. Would not recommend.

I rounded one with a Ritchey TorqueKey. It just happens with ti bolts. They sent me new ones and they are fine.
