Tour de France champion Alberto Contador will remain with the Astana team until his contract expires at the end of next year, Kazakh Cycling Federation deputy president Nikolai Proskurin says.
The Spaniard's future with Astana has been unclear for months amid persistent doubts about the Kazakh team's financial viability.
The International Cycling Union had warned that Astana's financial troubles could endanger its chances of securing a new four-year license, prompting speculation that Contador — the world's top-ranked rider — could be released by the team.
Contador won the Tour de France for the second time in July with former teammate and seven-time Tour champion Lance Armstrong finishing third.

He will likely have the same intra team competition with Vino as he did with Lance. A tortured champion indeed.

It's all posturing. Contador says it is not settled, yet.

without a decent tactician/team helping his chances of number 3 are slim. with Vino on the team helpers will be divided. and the 2 leaders, whoever is stronger bs doesn't work.

I can think of no desirable rationale for AC to stay at Astana.

yea but do you think Vino is even close to the level Contador or Lance is/was at? I think any competition will be in Vino's head only...

...Just about every minute!

In CyclingNews... (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/contador-says-his-future-will-be-decided-soon)

Now, one thing I can almost guarantee you (as per my crystal ball)... If Contador stays with Astana, I think he will get busted for doping next year!

In his own mind for sure, but I think with the 1/4 year he's had plus a spring campaign he'd be back to a top 10 contender if not better, and therefore will have his own aspirations.

Contador has complained about teamates for a while now. Remember Levi's Vuelta two years ago.
