Have a Richard Sachs Signature Touring Bike. Purchased new 7/1983, 64cm Emerald Green.Original Paint has a few bubbles forward cross bar near the cable guide, Otherwise in good to excellent condition. It's been in storage for about ten years. Any idea(s) on what it might be worth?

The market is pretty strong for used Sachs since the wait for a new one in over 5 years. They are "keepers" and Richard builds a wonderful bike.

If components are all CAMPY from that era and in good to excellent shape I would say $2K as a "ball park". If components are in excellent shape and Super Record than I would suggest stripping them and selling than separately and then sell the frame as "bare" for an asking ballpark price of 1500. Many others can voice opinion on components but again, it depends on what they are and condition.

More detail and pictures will allow a better estimate. PETE

If it's a touring bike, as the name implies, it must be pretty rare. He didn't make more than one or two a year of those, did he?

Why don't you contact Richard?

"normal" prices don't apply to RS frames.

It's definitely worth more.

I think you need to send it to someone tall, who could properly assess the bike's worth.

Hmm ... I'm thinking of someone who could fit the bill ... ;)

if you find the right buyer you might command a high price but i have to wonder how many people there are that would spend big coin on a 1983 touring bike in size 64?

good luck, i suspect $2k is not an unreasonable expectation.

Try it in the classifieds here and on other internet sites.

As previously stated, Sachs are highly desirable due to reputation and now that he has closed his wait list (8 yrs) to new customers.

The limiting factor is the size of this bike. But a tourer is rare. Probably $1500-2000, depending on condition

Trying selling the frame for the price you paid in 1983 times 2.17.
