I stripped my hub body last night.

I striped my hub body last night. Any idea if I can tap it out and still be safe?
It's looks like the cheapest I can find on the net is $80 to replace it.
It's on 05 or 06 Campagnolo Scirocco.

I now learned not to wrench after dinner and a few beers. :crap:

Try another lock ring and hope that THAT is what got stripped. Jeff N.

It was for sure the hub body. The lock ring is in perfect shape and I was cleaning the shavings (old threads that I destroyed) out of the hub body.

I've seen a couple on eBay for substantially less... look under 'hubs and rims'.

nope, you can't tap it - any idea what a tap like that would cost ? Lots! And if it stripped, there's nuthin left to tap.

Maybe you can find a taco'ed / crashed wheel and buy it ? I do not know what the interchangeability issues are on the campy freehubs, but I'd be willing to bet that record / chorus of the same year will fit fine.
