I'm buying a bike [I'd rather not ship] located in Western Howard county MD. Anyone coming up Vermont way that might be interested in giving it a ride?
Current owner and I can both travel a ways to meet you and I'm happy to compensate you for your effort.
Oh yeah, the bike is HUGE....72cm
I apologize to all MD residents and friends of MD for the typo!
I is tired.

I might have space in a few weeks (heading to a wedding in Fredericksburg in 3 weeks), but have you considered Greyhound?
I don't know if they still offer the same service that they used to, but I had superb luck with them about 5 or 6 years ago. I had my tandem shipped up to me from Atlanta and it was a 1-day service for pretty short money ($50ish, if memory serves me right). I literally met the bus as it came into the local station (they don't guarantee a specific time, but rather move the box on a space-permitted basis) and was tickled pink to find it comfortably stored in the luggage compartment. My experience was so great that I recommended it to my brother who was coming home for a few months from Washington (state). He threw his bike in a box, dropped it off on his way out of town, and I picked it up a few days later. Again, pain-free and minimally handled.
In my mind, that's always been my first go-to for BIG packages. Might be worth looking into.

Is this the Mt. Airy shop? If so, it is about 15 minutes from my house. I can't drive it to VT, but I can help if you need some flexibility in getting in on a Sunday or off hours. I can pick it up and hold it at my house until you are able to work it out, maybe meet you closer to the highway to save you from getting to far off and on the interstate. Either way, let me know if there is something I can do to help.
Also, I know the guy there ships all sorts of bikes, so he might have some good suggestions.

I might be headed up from Morris County, NJ (right off I-287) to Warren/Waitsfield this weekend.
If anybody can get it from DC to NJ/NYC, I'd happily delivery for the cost of one beer at Local Folks or the Alchemist.

When are you leaving NJ?
I’ll be coming from Arlington VA to Somerset County this weekend, but likely not leaving DC until fairly late Friday.

Would be late, after work.
Let me check with the other half and see what she says. I think we're 50/50 on the trip, but if we're going, I'd love to help out.

My wife and I are driving up to Burlington on the 22nd. to visit our daughter. If someone can get the bike up here (Lehigh Valley) by the 21st, I can do it, at least to Burlington. Maybe you can use me.
My parents live in Howard County, I'll be visiting them for Thanksgiving, from the Boston area. Let me know if that would work for you.
Chris
I may be working again soon and my territory will run MD to New England so if it's still needing a ride......

Not sure how much this'll help, but I'm headed to bucks county (philly burbs) around the 23rd, and then driving back up to middletown CT (wesleyan).
I can't really drive too far to meet someone since I'm in school and swamped with thesis work, but I can totally hold onto the bike for a few days if someone can come and pick it up there.
You're in vermont, so depending on where you are it might not be too bad of a drive on a weekend.
Let me know.

Going to Essex Jct. Vt from Greenpoint Brooklyn, NY on the afternoon Thursday the 29th. We'd probably hit Central Vt around 8pm or so. We go up RT 7.

I commute from just south of campus to the campus in madison, wi M-F. I'm not sure if that helps you, and I don't really have room since I ride my bike, but I'd be happy to ride your bike that far if it helps. Only if it's a 56 or thereabouts though. I ride speedplays, but I know somebody else who does about the same commute only with Look pedals, and they might be willing to help too. That person rides a 54 usually though, so keep that in mind.

Lemonlaug, the bicycle is big...it's a 72.
The OP is likely seeking a person driving a vehicle between those two locations who can carry it.

What's the status here 207?
It looks like we're going to lay low at home this weekend for the first time since mid-May (I might even get two rides in, yesss), but I will be around and more than willing to be a chain in the link if needed. Alright, I lied, we're probably headed down to Philly for at least part of the weekend, so I could scoop it up anywhere in between and take it a bit further north.

All- Thank you very much for your offers to help and I apologize for seeming falling off the face of the earth after posting this request.
This had derailed my bike buying adventures... Again, thank you all
