I just passed the government central school in Stillwater, NY

The large red LED sign outside (positioned on the main road) flashed ....

Remember ...
No Dogs
No Bicycles
No Smoking


if ya don't believe me, I can go back for a picture ...
I actually turned around, drove back just to make sure I was not
ready for the funny farm.

I can only hope that the order is not an indication of priority. Truly absurd no matter how one looks at it. Seems like an easy place to have the desire for deviance.

I was stunned to find out our school has a "no bicycles" policy in the student handbook.

Busy streets (the two that border the school are 4 lane roads), lack of racks, lack of security were some of the reasons given.

Apparently the policy doesn't apply to teachers commuting on bikes and we even get to keep ours in our classrooms as long as they are out of the way.
