Here's some xtra pics of a special bike that I think everyone will appreciate: Andy Hampsten's '87 TDF "Huffy"--err, Serotta.

I had these in the camera, thought I'd post 'em for your visual enjoyment.

I've had the small luxury of storing the frame for awhile while we coordinated its return (it was on loan from Signature Cycles & Serotta), and I found myself staring at it often, wondering where each of those little scratches & chips occurred: France, Italy, Switzerland, U.S.--who knows? Boy, if steel could talk...

What a neat piece of history.

Why we have the frame to begin with is due to an event held in connection with the TDF back in July (frame was used as promotional display). The original thread was in the "events" section, but since it was in July, well, it's no longer there!

Anyway--enjoy the photos...

Now you need to decide if your refurbish, buildup, sell, or hang this wonderful piece of history.... Very nice by the way. Should send a picture of it to Steve Hampsten.

Pete--it's not mine, it's on loan from Serotta (the Company). Believe me if it was mine, I'd have it hermetically sealed and hanging on the living room wall (much to my wife's delight I'm sure...)! They lent it to Signature, who worked with us on the display. Was super, super nice of everyone involved to do what they did. By the way, the charitable side of that event/display combo raised a nice amount for a kids organization up in Harlem (www.ichallengemyself.org).

Yep, Steve knows about it, and helped us in trying to track down the provenance.

Fun stuff!

I owned and rode for nearly 10 years a similar frame that was built for Eric Heiden- bought in the fall of 1987. It differed in one way- the top tube lugs were not as "fancy" as those shown. Great bike and since he did not ride that year, the bike was nearly new when the team sold it to me- I think it was $1,100 with full Dura-Ace.....

Wow, small world! I'm bringing it over to Lori tomorrow a.m. at their shop. You'll probably see it back in the mail from them sometime soon...
