Fellow forumites,

I was hoping you could tell me if Hugi 240 hubs branded "Specialized S Works" circa '01-'02 are compatible with 10 speed SRAM. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Apologies for never including "Shimano compatible" 240 in my initial post. :o

No knowledge of Hugi hubs of this vintage and SRAM 10 compatibility? Hard to believe I could stump this forum... :)

Are they compatible w/ 8/9/10 speed Shimano? If so, same thing.

If is is SHIMANO compatible hub (not Campy) than the answer is yes SRAM will work fine.

Thank you for the comments. Forgive my ignorance, but I always thought that a Shimano compatible hub (not necessarily a Shimano hub) was, as you have both said, also compatible with a SRAM cassette. Subsequently, I thought I read that Shimano hubs pre 2008 (I think) would not accomodate a SRAM cassette. So, I thought that older hubs from other manufacturers might also be incompatible with SRAM cassettes.

The only hubs that won't accept a SRAM cassette are the Shimano 7800 series with the larger OD aluminum splined cassette body and others that copied this briefly offered spline. IIRC that was '06-'07. The new 7850 hub returns to the old shallow spline design, that SRAM uses. If the hub is 8/9/10 compatible, then it has the shallow spline.
