My MXL was getting lonley, so I picked up another Merckx to keep him company.
You guys go on forever about the MXL, Corsa, ect, but I can't seem to find any info about the Arcobaleno aside from that it has some uniquely butted tubing.
Columbus "Acciaio Nivacrom Neuron"
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

I think we could surmise that it's constructed from Columbus Neuron tubing. It had, IIRC, kinda funky butting where the tubes were butted differently depending on which side of the frame they were to fall. Some say it gets a little bigger as the tubes approach the headset.

The google didn't have much to say about the arcobaleno. I remember it means "lightning bolt"

No, "arcobaleno" means rainbow.

Sounds Italian, why an Italian name for a bike built in germany?

And, they did make the "Corsa". A more Italian name for a bike is hardly possible.

Dutch is the official language in Flemish Brabant, but some communities do use French.

Bicycling magazine reviewed this frameset around 1995 or 1996. IIRC, they basically said that it was an extremely harsh riding steel frameset.

I believe he grew up in Brussels, which is mostly French speaking. Despite this, Eddy was always able to straddle the line between the Flemish and Walloon communities in Belgiumk, alienating neither (which would be tough, given his notoriety). He speaks both Flemish and French fluently.

Interesting, as I thought Rashid had sold off all the old Merckx frames last year. Will have to drop him a line.

edit****emailed rashid and he no longer has any steel frames in any size. gotta believe somewhere there are more shops with similar stashes****

As for Eddy, his wedding was held in French so you know he's fluent in both.
