lunchboxrides is the seller, probably steals bikes during his lunch hour.... or carries bike stealing tools in a lunchbox.

From the description, I would've listed it as a 55 or 56, and not a 57, since the tt c-t-c is 55.5. And a 20.5cm headtube is pretty tall for that size bike.

get the serial ## and it will tell you the size but that is normal for some riders. 57 st and a 56tt. In fact many years ago that was a standard 57 size.

Since it is custom, it looks like someone did not want it after it arrived. Some folks do not want decals on their bike,

What about the front badge?

That reminds me of an early twenty something drunken incident on Block Island: We were bar hopping and one of the guys in our group hopped on a Huffy style road bike that was parked in front of one of the bars and went for a joy ride. As we were running around he pulled out the lone water bottle and chucked it TDF style. About an hour later we were down the road and just came out of another club and were heading for the beach goofing around when a guy came running up and grabbed the bike by the bars…“Hey!! That’s my bike!!”. The guy on the bike gets a smug “oh yeah” look on his face and smartly replies as he points down; “No it’s not! See, there’s no water bottle!!”

Half the group is rolling on the ground laughing at such a stupid remark, and the other half is laughing and telling him to give the bike back.

William  :)

Front badge looks normal to me.

Looks legit, and the seller has a lot of feedback.
Keep in mind, Serotta's don't sell for anywhere near retail on ebay, usually less than half, and this one is also missing the Serotta fork which drops the value even further.
So the current bid price doesn't surprise me.

Seems legit...the seller has a lot of other bike gear for sale as well an the description of the frame is very clear.

I don't think it can have a level top tube with that headtube length. Plugging the numbers into my fit spreadsheet, I come up with a 56.5 virtual top tube and a 3.5 deg slope to make the headtube length work out (incl 2cm extension).

Mike:

Good point.

I did not do any calculations - leaving that to you engineers - but the head tube seemed awfully larger for the frame size.

There are are several active bidders on that frame. Look for it to escalate quite a bit in the last few hours/minutes of the auction.

Thanks for the quick input, stayed away. The auction ballooned $500 in the last minute, hefty price considering missing small details and odd geometry. Forum members came through, informed and helpful, for my first post.

4000+ transactions. 99.6% positive. Sells lots of bike items.

Why do you think it is a scam?
