Columbus New SLX Tubing

I'm looking at a used Italian Frame on Ebay and it's made with SLX NEW tubing. Seller thinks the frame is late 90's? I can't find alot of info on this tubing. I know SLX is early 80's but unsure on NEW SLX. Anyone have info on this?

Columbus SL with a 125# wt limit and SLX and R 531 with a 150# rider limit?
Seems a bit conservative...either that, or I am lucky to be alive.

Yep, I had frame a few years ago with 'NEW SLX' (or was it the other way 'round? :)) stamped into the bottom bracket shell. I don't know a heap about it, but I doubt it would be much different to SLX or SL, etc. Maybe a slightly different weight or tensile strength, but I doubt the ride would be any different.

Is it oversized like all modern steel tubing, or the same diameter like the SLX of old?

I bet this is the same stuff Colnago sold as "Conic Spiral" SLX, the one my friend had came with a fluted downtube but this earlier one seems to be smooth:

I would imagine it's the same stuff that Italian Cycling Journal link above refers to as SLX "Superbutted"

I doubt it has any Nivacrom in it like some guys are guessing, Columbus would have surely given it an entirely new name.

In any case, it's really good stuff.

I've owned both old and new SLX. As I recall, it's a refresh--I think shorter butts etc. But the effect to me is that they were both steel and both good.

Someone said somewhere that SLX New was originally called PRX and was ribbed Cyclex tubing.
