Now that the jerk is back, permit me to pose a question. Zap posted a link to a comparison of the various high end wheels. (your beloved ADAs were not included).

according to the graphs, the Zip 303 was slightly lighter and accelerated a bit faster than the Light Weights, but the LWs had a better coeficient of drag and are stiffer. The LWs are $3,700 and the 303s are $1,600.

So my question is, do wheels such as LWs and ADAs deserve such a high premium over the 303s? Are they worth the extra $.

FYI. I've never owned any really cool wheels nor have I ever ridden any of the wheels tested.

the short answer is no. from a monetary point of view we are at the point of diminishing returns...that being said there is a quantifiable difference between the wheelsets you mention....aerodynamics are generally more important than just about anything else although the jerk has always liked really stiff wheels...plus light wheels just feel fast and that's great for the head as well as great for courses where you need to slow down and then speed up again....

I noticed the weights he shows for Zipp 303 clinchers are off by -100g per wheel. Haven't checked any of the others . . .
