I'd like to get a setback seatpost, but noticed Thomson doesn't manufacture them in 27.0mm. Does anyone ride a 27mm setback post that they could reccomend? (IE, 2004 Fierte riders :) )

Right now there are a couple Dura-ace Team ( the one that says shimano in bold print on the shaft ) seatpost on e-bay in 27.0. Very nice post with setback.

As far as new, there's a cheap Kalloy and I think Peter White may stock a one bolt Nitto. Not a lot out there.

what is the frame? .004" wall is not much to open you up to a whole world of nice 27.2 posts.... if the frame can handle it.

These do look nice, but everything on my bike is campy! have you seen any of these in person? Any way to rub the logo off? :)

I have a couple in 27.2 and one in 27.0 there a great post. The lettering is usually above insertion level unless you don't have much post showing. If it's going in and out of the frame it will rub off but as I say it's high enough it's usually not a factor. Everything campy, well there's part of your problem!! :)

No way... Can anyone recommend a safe way to do this? I tried a 27.2 and it wouldn't budge, didn't want to hurt my frame.

Haha, I WANT to get the logo off. These seem like my only option, as the nitto is ridiculously expensive.

You can get a Ritchey Comp post in a 27.0 for about $50. QBP has plenty in stock so your LBS can get you one pretty easily. It's a 400mm post but cutting it down is no problem. As someone else pointed out, you can get a Kalloy Uno post for less than $20 and it comes in black or silver (not polished though).

I asked my lbs if i could use a 26.8 and they said there would be too much play between the seatpost and the seat tube... maybe i'll cut out shim from a coke can? :)

no no, i dont mean stuff it in there, take to a confident builder/mechanic. they/we have the tools to properly ream and hone to 27.2mm.

again, it all depends on the frame. little know fact. most 27.0 frames are made with STs intended to be 27.2 but fast moving production lines and bad brazing result in 27.0 frames. think of 27.0 as the JIS of 27.2

trust me, have have done this many times in my life.

so, what is the frame?

Me too. I was told it was 27.2. Took it in to get the head tube faced, and they had to throw on a seat post to lock it into the work stand, and couldn't fit a 27.2 into it. We measured it with a seat tube measurer, and came out 27.0.

Not sure what Peter is talking about, but Euro Asia Imports has 27.0's in stock and you can find them fairly easily in 27.0 and a variety of anodized colors as well (no longer NJS but very bling on the right bike). Most track-oriented shops have them in stock because a fair number of keirin frames seem to end up 27.0. Perhaps like Dave said.

Anybody else have any ideas? still haven't decided on a seat post, but by now i assume every possibility has been mentioned.
