When I was stationed down there, I worked on a communications station over on the west bank of new orleans by the river. We would routinly have gators all over the place... one day there was one laying across the road that went out of the base, a buddy pulled his early 80's toyota up next to it and the gator was as long as the truck! Of course, our resident redneck had to go poking it with a stick.... I can tell you one thing, a gator can MOVE when it wants to and rednecks get a really funny look on thier face when they're scared! :D

(no actual rednecks were hurt in this story)
