> Picture the perfect ride on a gorgeous Missouri morning spoiled by a

I've taken to smiling happily and waving when some idiot honks his horn or screams at me. Hi! Aren't you my friend?

Ok, sure, this is kind of nuts, but what I figure is this: they're probably psychotic, so my being happy that they yell at me will piss them off further. Mission accomplished!

It'd be a lot better if you hooked up a helmet cam like MTBers and sent a copy to the motorist and any TV stations, police stations, etc. Maybe even make money on it by sending it one of those TV shows that cover stupid driver behavior :-)

. . . Of course, the acid test will come in the future when MoBikeFed members actually call MoDot and ask for shoulder sweeps and are told what to do with themselves, or are told, “Hey, sure!” and then it’s not done. Who do you complain to when you’re blown off?

Same with the question of how long it will be before a motorist runs down a cyclist and admits to officers that he did it because he was pissed off about getting a letter. Forgive my cynicism on this one, but it sounds like the same happy talk stuff IMBA did for years about being warm and fuzzy, then finally seeing reality a few years ago and starting a legal fund to hire lawyers to play hardball with the Sierra Club and others over land access.

A letter from MoDot is not going to carry nearly as much weight as if the letter had the MO State Police letterhead.
