I normally wouldn't be using a seatpost shim, but my Curtlo mtn bike takes a somewhat unusual 29.8mm seatpost. Thomson doesn't make a setback post in this size, so I went with a 27.2->29.8 shim and a Thomson 27.2 SB post.

This bike uses all of a 330mm seatpost, and it just occurred to me that the seatpost won't be in contact with the seat tube below the shim. So I have effectively cut the seatpost even with the bottom of the shim as it is unsupported below there.

Am I likely to stress the frame with such a long seatpost supported only by the length of the shim?

Yes you are going to put the frame under a great deal of stress with that set up. A 330 mm post has enough leverage without adding to the issue with a short effective overlap.

I'd find the right size post.
