Odd Questions

When comparing the frame geometry of a mountain bike and a road bike, does the top tube measurement translate to a frame that will fit? I.E. i ride a 59 cm top tube road bike, would an effective top tube on a mountain bike of that same measurement mean that mtb frame will fit?

I do not have the same experience with mtb's as i do road bike. Thanks for your help.

There are some other major geo differences between the two that also need to be considered.
I don't ride mtn. enough to know the specifics.

I prefer the top tube on my mtb be 3-4 cm longer than my road bike, due to the flat bers. I also prefer to use a stem between 10-12 cm, with 11 ideal.

You must balance the ability to move forward on steep climbs and keep the front wheel down, with the need to get off the back on steep downhills. In some ways, I find mtb fit more critical than road bike fit due to these extremes.
