First off, sorry for the lousy picture quality. It was taken from my iphone and obviously I didnt have a film crew with me to get the lighting correct.

My first comment to the 3 gentleman was: I hope you all like each other...
They said they did.

They started their ride from Chicago and are heading back to Minnesota via New Orleans. I believe they said it was a 13,000 mile journey over 100 days (parts of it they are being driven in a van with a trailer).

Its part of a Lutheran Mission. Something called "Ride for the Rev". I Googled it, but came up with nothing. They said they had a website. They were being supported by Lutheran churches all across the country.

Anyway, its pretty cool and the diameter of the tubing makes any aluminum bike look tiny in comparison. Its super beefy!

Oh, btw, if you couldnt tell, its all made out of bamboo.

Oh yeah, check out the volleyball players in the background. I am so hating that I have to go back to work soon!

Just sayin'

When you said bamboo, it had to be a Calfee.

Thanks for the links!

I was Googling "ride for the Rev" and came up with squat.

Cool bunch of guys! Really nice.

Where're you at there, Steve? Redondo? Calfee had a booth at the Solvang Century last year and I got to see one of their bamboo frames up close. Interesting. Very interesting. I'd never buy one, but other than that....Jeff N.

Believe it or not, I saw a calf born on my commute to work early this morning. No photo to show but Mama was mooing proudly and cleaning her new calf like there was no tomorrow. Ahhh, what you can see on a bike!

I've seen bears in the road on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville. I think I can outsprint them downhill. Uphill, I just need to outsprint my friends as the joke goes...

pretty close to the center of Chappaqua. Slow day, but damn cold for mid-July!

A club member bought a 3-person carbon from Calfee. Cool thing is the middle seat can be uncoupled converting the steed into a 2-person. I heard the cost rivaled that of a new Mini Cooper.

That very unique Calfee three-seater must absolutely fly on the flats or on gentle rollers.

Actually, not unique. One of our bike club members, a very strong rider, drops down a few levels to ride his Calfee three-seater along with his wife and teenage daughter.

And he still beats most of us going up the hills.

(It's always the engine.)

Interestingly, his Calfee triple can be reduced, using S&S couplers, to a Calfee tandem.

Dave, who says one shouldn't have a bike like that unless one likes to talk with people since you'll be asked lots of questions -- and who adds with this edit that it looks like Kevan already posted about this same cyclist and bike
