Strava is a pretty cool site for Garmin users. Anyone else beta testing this?

Let me know if you can't get in maybe I can send them a note to invite you.

I am really enjoying Strava. You upload your Garmin data and then it segments out the hills you have ridden and automatically categorizes them and shows you everyone else on Strava who has ridden the same hill/mountain. It ranks all the riders who have done it and give s KOM for each hill. It also interpruts the data and assigns a power value to it. Not sure how accurate it is because I don't have a power meter to compare.

Here is a link to my profile and rides: http://www.strava.com/athletes/569

Please, no comments about my slow riding :-)

Ooops, I guess that you need to be a member to see all my rides. Well, this should work. This is one ride I did and it automatically broke out a climb that I did and it happens that my buddy also rides it so it compares us.

I really like the best efforts / watts and listing of climb times. Nice way to compare. Will it do best efforts of each ride or only those it determines have 'climbs' in them?

What other inputs does it take beyond a 705 w/ power?
Thanks.

You don't need a power unit with a 705. The application takes the data from the Garmin and interprets power. I am not sure how accurate it is since I do not have a power unit to compare but I like the direction the developers are going. I love how it catogorizes my local climbs and shows me who has climbed them the fastest.

If you like strava, you should checkout ridewithgps.com (http://ridewithgps.com), another site for cycling enthusiasts to track their rides.

I like them, they are local (~2miles from my house) and sponsor a local team with good people.

People who ride with a PT or a SRM say the watt numbers are very close, unless there is a lot of wind. Works well for climbs.

Keep in mind that the watt generation is post ride, e.g. not real time. So if you would do intervals or that sort of thing you need to go by heart rate.

PM if you want more info.
