I have some small scratches on my SRAM Force crank mostly around the pedals from my Speedplay cleats. What can I do to fix the existing scratches, none are life-threatening and what can I do to prevent further scratches? I thought about applying heavy mil clear packing tape to the nose and side of the crank. Would that harm the clear coat?

Thanks for any input.

I use clear nail polish to touch up the scratches on my carbon crank.

I just refinished the arms on my 6 year old FSAs. Lightly sanded with progressively finer sandpaper (think I started with 400 or so and finished with 800 or so). Resprayed the clear coat (rattlecan). Can't tell them from new. Total cost was <$10 and maybe an hour. I did my Chorus shift levers while I was at it.

Why would speedplay cleats be the cause of scratches on the crank? They should never contact the crankarms. Shoes, perhaps.

The Speedplay cleats are metal and if you go to click in when the cranks are level and you are a little too inboard when you step down you can get the cranks.
