there's something about titanium s-bend seatstays over s-bend chainstays that i find strangely alluring. i only know of merlin, spectrum, and seven that do it. and of those, merlin engraves to boot.
is it purely aesthetics? i assume there's a sale pitch that says there's something about ride quality to it.
does serotta offer it?

[EDIT: Ooops, wait, I guess you're talking about road frames?]
Tire clearance, mainly.
I know Kish does it too. I'm sure many others do as well.

SEVEN's artfully curved and round chain and seat stays are without peer, IMO. Jeff N.

In my opinion for it to make a significant difference in ride they would have to have more curving, like Dave's Terraplane or DKS designs. If S seat stays provided a fraction of 1-MM of suspension would you notice it? I doubt it but don't know for sure.

I like these seatstays.
A lot.Very nice, though not crazy about the wheels. Don't care for big spokes. The seat stays look delicate, nicely shaped.

I completely agree on the wheels.
You have seen rocky-socks' Scapins (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showpost.php?p=681120&postcount=63) in the Custom Bikes section, right? Wow!

I think the Vanilla Speedvagen seatstays just look incredible. Who cares if they offer any performance advantage or not; looks matter here.
