I had a great ride on my new Fierte It yesterday putting 90 miles on it. I am really beginning to feel like the bike is now getting dialed in and I LOVE the ride.

I ended up switching out the FSA carbon post that came with it to a Ritchey carbon post (27.2 diameter) and initially had some slippage. I tightened it up which fixed the problem but my question is: do you grease a carbon post as you would an alloy post?

Conventional wisdom is no grease on carbon posts.
Slipping can actually be the result of some grease stuck in
the seat tube.
I clean the inside of the ST well before inserting the post.

There is also a carbon prep material available that increases the
friction, but I've never tried it.

So how do you clean a seat tube?

Wrap a rag around a dowel or something like that and push it into the seat tube and work it around to clean it. DO NOT push the rag in so far that some isn't hanging out to grab onto to pull back out.

Keep doing this until the rag comes out cleanish.

Then use the carbon prep stuff. It's the ****.

Both Ritchey and Tacx sell this product ( as I am sure others do as well).

What it does is allow you to not have to tighten down on a carbon part (stems, seatposts, bars, etc) as much as to not potentially damage them.

Good luck!
