Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of meeting my friends FMSRider (Lew) and Ahneida Ride (HandleBra tycoon Ray) for a ride out of my girlfriend's cabin near North Creek, north of Albany in the Adirondacks. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. The ride was definitely a casual pace, but hey, look at the scenery. Can you blame us for taking it easy and trying to prolong the great time as long as possible?

Here's Lew (left) and Ray ready to ride at the entrance to the dirt road to my GF's camp.

. . . just outside of North Creek. This was typical of the traffic--in other words, there wasn't any.

. . . uh, school. Not sure of the curriculum . . .

. . . down our "shortcut" Glen Creek Road. None of us had ever been down this road and it was dirt, so you never know what can happen. Ray is riding "HandleBra Prototype #1" and I am aboard the Queen Bee.

. . . Glen Creek Road stayed in good shape and we had a beautiful 4 mile ride through the woods beside what I assume is Glen Creek.

. . . proved to be rather steep, but Ray had no trouble. He is strong like bull!

. . . ham it up? No, I'd never do THAT!

. . . our favorite sign.

. . . grow on trees. Ray had no shortage of, uh, FRN's in case he wanted to buy souvenirs.

. . . we all relaxed back at the cabin. :D

there been reports of mountain lion up there and if you had been wearing that zebra suit get up, there's no tellin' how much better your average would of improved. Or...

Looks great, thanks for sharing!

I have a buddy who drives a Ford Ranger. Whenever he comes to a long hill with a sign that says "trucks use low gear" he downshifts into 3rd. I chuckle to myself, but don't have the heart to tell him its referring to 18-wheelers.

I was out Tuesday and Wednesday on the southern end of the park (pedaling around the Sacandaga area). Everything was perfect.

With all due respect, I say we keep it quiet or we'll lose those quiet roads.

Got a great forward from my brother last week--
(to paraphrase)
the world is carefully balanced in all ways - but God made the Adirondacks perfect in terrain, climate (which I thought of as a stretch) and people ~ when asked about the balance, he replied 'just wait until you see what I send up there for the summers'.

BBD--great pix, as always! BTW you have Michelle Obama arms! Lew and Ray, sorry I couldn't have joined you, but I may have had to walk up that hill Ray is pedaling--looks positively alpine.

. . . tilted the camera just a teeny-tiny bit. But not much! ;)

Looks like a great ride. How far did you guys ride with those hills, and still call it casual? I recognize Peaceful Valley Road right near Gore Mtn - just used to seeing it with snow.

Nice work gentlemen!

Fun pictures and lively description - looks like a fun ride. Like Steve, I recall many a snowy drive up those roads. I always liked the name Peaceful Valley Road.

. . . out there. We did stop to rest at the small market and gift shop in Glen by thje Hudson River. Ray got his stuff, went to pay, and said to the lady running the place, "Here ya' go--ten FRN's."

She replied, "FRN's?" and off he went! Lew and I had to tape his mouth and physically carry him out of the place. :D
