I'm trying to hunt down a front brake caliper in long reach to fit an older 531 steel fork. Does anyone know if the new Shimano 600 (now described as "long reach") calipers come with a short bolt/recessed nut or the older style long bolt/standard nut? I need the latter. None of the online stores specify this, and its obviously a crucial detail. None of my LBS carry them (I even tried your LBS, Vaxn8r).

TIA

If you visit this site, Sheldon Brown lists a variety of available brake calipers and includes whether or not available with recessed or traditional bolts.

The Shimano 47-57mm caliper is available in both nutted and recessed mounts. Call Sheldon and he'll hook you up.

Also, the long Shimano bolts can be used to refit Campy dual pivot calipers for older frames.
