I have put in lots of training this year and typically hit 12-14 hours a week on the bike and another 4-5 hours trail running. I feel my cardio is pretty strong. So in prepairing for cross season, I thought it to be a good idea to race some short track MTB races. I knew my MTB skills would be lacking since I have only rode the mountain bike once this year but though my strong cardio would make up for it. being this was my first race of the year, I set two goals: be last to the first corner and then let my strong fitness take over and pick people off. Well, I had wonderful sucess in meeting my first goals but failed in the other. Its always humbling to race and find out your are not as good as you think you are....

Next week, I am go to be second to last into the first corner......

How do you like that course? Was it still muddy?

It was a great, mostly dry with only one small mud hole. It has tight corners, steep but short hills some, just a little bit of everything....
