Shimano is coming out with a new carbon fiber body SPD-SL pedal shortly after the Tour. PBK pricing also reflects that Shimano is clearing its inventory of existing pedals. Probably a great deal because it's not clear how durable the new design will be; what I've seen isn't comparable to the 7810.

Lord knows, I'm all about carbon fiber..But, it seems like making a pedal out of it is not the smartest move. I know its been done before by Look, etc...

But, the 7810 is the perfect pedal. Wide platform, great bearings, mainetence free,etc, etc, etc...Why mess with perfection???

Check your credit card when the charge hits.
I ordered some shoes from them yesterday at a price of $305 but the charge was actually $316 because the exchange rate listed on their website was about 2 weeks old.
Not a big deal since the shoes were almost $150 cheaper than anywhere on this side of the pond but if a few bucks is the difference between buying from them or not it is best to get the actual GBP amount and do the conversion yourself rather than trust the webpage. :beer:

I agree, the 7810 pedal is about as good as it gets. But you ask why mess with perfection?? Well, because its lucrative. Shimano is launching this right on the coattails of their immensely successful 7800 series pedal and, although there will likely be no measurable performance benefit of a carbon version of this pedal, we will see many cyclists lining up to buy a pair - regardless of what they cost. After all, the new pedals are carbon so they must be better, right?

Since no shop around had my size in that model for me to try on, though they would order if I paid up front for them, I hope they fit good or the price savings is a moot point.
