Weekend at Acadia

I zipped up to Acadia NP this weekend. Good weather,
black flies not too bad, Smooth roads, not a lot of people.
Saw a couple of Serotta riders flash by (I am old and slow)

Thanks to BBDave for the inspiration.

Finally got to try the popovers at Jordan Pond.

The road up Cadillac Mt has just been re-paved!
I'm letting the asphalt dry before I try it.

Last time I was there I didn't have a bike with me. I don't think I'll make that mistake again.

Heading there on Saturday....for a week of camping and fun. Carriage roads + 35C Paselas = :beer: :banana: :D

If anyone is stuck up there without a bike, the Bar Harbor Bike Shop rents MTB's, road bikes, and they even had a few cross bikes on the racks when I was up there in April. The day prices are quite reasonable and it's only a short ride up the hill to the carriage road entrance at Duck Brook.

Here's a few pics from that trip . . . First me negotiating what we found on the way up Day Mountain. We got there just a few days after the carriage roads opened for the season and they had still not cleaned up all the winter blow-down. Then there Bev on the carriage road, and Bev on top of Day Mountain writing in her journal. I'd never been up there so early in the season, but the weather was great!
