Hi - I'm building up a custom bike and I'm looking for a silver stem to go with it. Does anyone know of any stems for a 1" steerer tube and a 26.0 clamp size?

I looked at Thomson stems, but they seem to be made exclusively for the 31.8 size.

Thank you!

Velo Orange has some nice ones - they will provide you with a shim if needed...

NITTO makes a not-so-polished version....

Anyway - your best bet is to get a shim since there are many, many more options in 1 1/8"

To begin with the 1" steerer tube is a non issue, because you can use a shim that converts 1.125" to 1".

As far as stem brands, models, etc. Nitto makes a pretty cool called something like the ui5ex. Check Ebay for the Thomson, as they used to make 26.0 clamp dia.

Finally check out the Velo Orange website, they have some basic silver stems.

Hope this helps.

I have the Nitto on 2 of my bikes.
They are really sharp looking.
I got mine from Rivendell.

Wow, hadn't seen that Pearl Silver Oval before.
That is really sweet.
I may have to find a reason to try one of those.......

I bought one of these used from a forumite for my Legend. It is light, stiff, and has a very high level of polish:

I like the 3T mutant. A lot of people don't though.

They're becoming a little harder to find lately. I still have one laying around somewhere.

If you're willing to run a shim on the fork, the velo-orange stem is the hottest thing for the money.

I used to think the nitto stem (also requiring a fork shim) was better looking than the VO, but I'm not so sure anymore. Plus it's twice the price.
