OS steel tubing?

Modern oversize steel tubing has been billed as a great advance but I don't think I have ever seen a head to head comparison that demonstrates that a tube set like 'Spirit for Lugs' has some performance benefit over top of the line modern traditional sized tubing like Platinum OX.

Has anyone done an A B comparison of similar frames? What are the differences?
