Have you ridden a Wegener Alaya? I just read a cool article about them and their re-emergence on the surf scene.

I haven't tried one myself, but have seen some video of them. For me, other than the novelty of playing around with this board, I can't imagine choosing this over a regular finned board.

Yah, if short, fat fish are the singlespeed MTB's of the surfing world, these planks would be the penny farthings.

I saw a trailer of the recent Thomas Campbell film "The Present." Guys are riding these boards in some serious waves. I can't wait to check the film out.

Rumor is that when you are riding your board, they close the beach, so that if per chance you make it to shore via a really big wave, you won't wipe out/crush some of the sunbathers on the beach. True?? :rolleyes:

Lol!! Thanks, I enjoyed that. Just got in from a ride on a beautiful spring day and then get a good laugh on top of it. :cool: I especially like the coffee table...just proves you can surf just about anything.
