I am headed there for a few months of work. Looking for a good group for road rides on weekends and evenings at moderate speeds. Thanks for your help.

I have heard that it is a good cycling area though a bit cooler than home.

Get in touch with the Ottawa Bicycle Club (OBC), one of the oldest clubs in the country, they will look after you or send you in the right direction. You will find absolutely first rate riding in the region. If you are not into the club scene, you can also go check our the great loops in the Gatineau where you will find large groups of riders too. It is easy to then ask for more advice as to where to ride.

What Polyglot said. I haven't ridden there in a couple of years, but Gatineau Park, just north of the river, is the place to go for riding in the area. On Sundays the roads in the park are closed to traffic (as is true of other parkways in the city), and there are hundreds of riders in groups large and small, ad hoc and arranged. The Quebec side of the river has more interesting terrain and roads in general.

It's been 20 years (gosh time flies) but I did enjoy riding in Gatineau.
