View Full Version : What's a good 'trail' number?

Just wondering if anyone had any opinions on the optimal amount of trail a bike should have. I am thinking that there must be a figure that will allow steady but not too staid steering, without being too quick that will allow one to ride without hands with not too much difficulty.

Anyone know of any pros that have peculiar trail figures on their bikes and why?

How low is the low speed at which highish trail figures become unstable?

the jerk likes 5.9-6.1 achieved with a steepiish head angle and a short rake to keep the front center shortish on his biggish bike.
