Hi....
I'm just looking for some feedback from my cycling brethren.
There is currently on ebay a bike that is a great deal!!
Awesome frameset....dura-ace components..cinelli stem..etc.
My problem? I have a 37.25 inch inseam so I need a large frame.
This bike is only a 58ST!
BUT....horizontally it's a perfect fit for me...59.5TT nice wheelbase
because of long TT and stays.
So it fits except for the seat tube.
Would it be "unwise" to buy a bike that would require me to expose
6.5 inches of seatpost?????
I'm thinking with the bar height I can get a Nitto high rise stem(the frame's
fork is threaded).
Thanks for any wisdom..and Merry Christmas!!

Un-Wise . You also need to consider OTHER things like trail when your a BIG guy pending how up-right you ride the front end handling maybe way off with this frame for you . Just my nickels worth of advice .

yeah what Smiley said. By the time you raise the saddle that high you will also push it waaay back making the top tube longer than you want.

Thanks smiley and Ken!
You're probably right!
It's a Merckx MX Leader....Max Sciandri "mount" from his "Postal" days.
Dura-ace...that cinelli stem is awesome!
But!.....I would probably regret it!
I do have a very long femur as well...and what really scares me off
is the seller says it has a 74 degree seat tube!! :crap:
I've found the best fit for me is in the 72 degree range..but with that said
I questioned him because to my eyesight it sure looks very "laid back".
But he says the "Motorola" bike info says 74!
Hummmm......the rear tire is sure close to the seat tube!
Nahhh!!......I best just pass!

I can order a new MX Leader..63 cm.....Motorola colors..and get one
of the last 100!! :)
Happy Holidays Y'all

I'd counsel against this...with a 35" inseam I rode a "62cm" Trek OCLV for a while. This frame measured out at about 59.5 cm c-c. I never could quite get it to feel right, even though It was equipped with a long Nitto stem.

By chance I stumbled onto a 63x61 Legend in great condition, in a color scheme I like, for sale by someone local, and all for a great price. I think you should keep looking... and only cry once when you find one to buy!

Carlos, apologies for not checking before making my first post - GVHbikes has several 63 and 64cm steel framesets available, including a 64 Landshark Modena with an Alpha Q for $1050 and two 64cm Cinelli Super Corsa (one red, one blue) with chrome steel forks for $900.

Only four and a half shopping hours left until Christmas (Eastern time :))

Thanks Tim!
Actually....I think I will contact Gary and purchase the Merckx...of
course an MX and of course 63cm(c-c) seat-tube.

I once again considered the ebay bike?....but that would be 6.5 inches
of seat post with a 3 cm. seat-tube extension above the top-tube!!
Without the high seat-tube "collar"..I would be looking at 7.5 inches
of exposed seat-post!!. ..I'm sure Mr. Kellogg and Mr. Sachs and
Mr. Kirk would "wince" upon hearing this!!

Thanks for the feedback Tim!!

A bike that doesn't fit is a lousy deal at any price. Pass on it.

If Smiley tells you to pass - pass.
