Had the chance to see three of his tandems at the Eastern Tandem Rally. Dr. Gabe Mirkin our local guru has one, my gosh are these suckers LIGHT. I bet the road frames are just as impressive, calling Jack Brunk, a metal group on the periodic table you have not sampled yet?

As long as it isn't as flammable as the magnesium ribbon we used to burn in high school chemistry class....

Hey,
If you guys want a *REAL* Magnesium frame, then you need to get a Kirk Precision Magnesium frame:

Arguably one of the ugliest frames ever made! Good Luck!

BTW - caveat emptor, just about every Kirk Magnesium BROKE!

Not my taste.

Pina would be a better choice, for road single that is. Only Pina made in Italy.

Rue is probably a nicer option for light tandem frame. Raced in Canada by one/two teams and a frameset won US Nationals two years ago.

Some cool zapanache options too

I've heard the same, from some folks who have access to almost anything on two wheels, that Mg Pinnarello is the shizzle. Too bad there isn't any custom option (and at those prices, there should be!) Unless your name is Pettachi, of course. :D
A certain bike purveyor across the hall was unenthusiastic about the Pateka when I asked about Mg options. Likewise there was a bit of criticism (admitedly, mostly aethetic) when an Mg Zinn frame was published (looked like it was a rebadged Pateka, in any case).
But, looks-wise, the worst example has to be the Isreali-built Segals. Talk about falling out of the ugly tree and hitting every branch on the way down, check out these chainstays!

I was under the impression that a custom (not that i would need one) dogma can be had. They don't braze, weld or glue anything else in their shop in Italy so they must have time to build custom dogs too.

My back and wrists hurt just looking at that Segal

quote for ad description:
"One of Kirk's first ads showed the designer driving over the frame in a Cadillac without doing any damage"
too bad

I have a custom Dogma. Its a Fassa Bortolo team frame that was made for Roberto Petito during the 2005 season. The bottom bracket is stamped "FB 12".

The ride quality is perfect. Living in Florida, I thought that perhaps riding on pretty good roads most of the time may have skewed my perception. Last week I had the opportunity to take it with me to South Bend, Indiana and ride it around on the roads that will truly display the ride qualities of a bicycle. (expansion joints, chip 'n seal, patched potholes and generally crappy country roads)

I used to prefer steel frames for that type of riding in Indiana, with my prior favorite being a 1996 Moser Leader AX. Aluminum was way too harsh and my original C40 was WAY to whippy.

The Dogma feels like a fantastic steel frame, but its a good bit lighter. It soaks up the chip and seal "chatter", does not feel whippy, twitchy or anything else. Just point and shoot steering and stiffness with all day comfort.

Its the kind of bicycle that has persuaded me to get rid of my other bikes. I'll NEVER part with this one!

Here's a link to the photos that I've posted here before along with the geometry chart as well.
