Economical and carbon usually dont go hand in hand.

That being said, you can usually find some pretty good deals on ebay.

If you dont want to go the ebay route, most people will agree that Arundel makes some very nice cages. Oh, Reynolds as well.

Good luck!

King Cages. Stainless or Ti, depending how much you're willing to spend. They work. No one will laugh.

I love king ti cages, but Flux suggested arundel madible cages and they are very nice; light, stout and look good.

+1. Although, you'll lose your pocketbook before your bottles.

And he's one guy I would recommend taking advice from when it comes to bike chit. AND AND - his reco actually addresses the OP's original question (since they're carbon), while mine did not.

I still can't come to terms with the price of most carbon bottle cages. But that's just me. Different strokes & all. . .

King Ti cages are about the same cost as Arundels, no?

I like the Specialized plastic holders. Inexpensive ($16 list), light as a feather (36g) and never lose a bottle.

If true, thats nuts. Arundles are rolled in some sweat shop over you know where.

Carbon bottle cages are kitch.

King is king of cages and will never fade away.

I got a couple of these from Performance. Never lost a bottle yet and seem really strong.

When installing carbon fiber cages on carbon fiber bicycles, my preference is for Campagnolo Record given the smooth lines, retention, and quality.
Depending on viewpoints, it may or may not satisfy all OP requirements.

I though Zipp cages were the bomb when it came to carbon?

I don't use carbon cages, King stainless for me. Probably should have sprung for the Ti King's but they are four times the cost. Besides, the stainless steel models look great on my bare Ti Legend.

Yes, yes they are. I should have finished my thought in the last post. Which would have gone something like, "if the cost for 'something else' gets anywhere near the price of a King Ti, then I'm going to just buy the King Ti - no question".

King Cages. Stainless or Ti, depending how much you're willing to spend. They work. No one will laugh.

The ti ones rival most carbon cages for weight, too. And they are made right here in Colorado, USA!

+1 on the ti...paint it if youd like to forget its not carbon. They work very well on less than ideal roads. :bike:

+1 on Arundel.

Clean, simple, durable.

Not the cheapest, but they work great and look good too.

Functionality wise nothing better on the market. Period. Lasts forever, won't break and will do exactly what it's supposed to do each and every time. What more do you need from a cage? OK, If you're into bike bling or got some kinda Feng Shui thing going on then there are lots of cool designer cages to consider too.

Thanks all, I will consider all, I was partial to the carbon because I have a carbon bike that is clear coat and thought anything else would look funny.

Anybody tried the new Arundel Sport Bottle Cage?

I kept breaking the little tabon the CF cage that holds the bottom of the bottle. It only happened with the cage on the seat-tube. After about 80 miles I guess the bottles got sticky and I would get too tired to be delicate, then I'd jam the bottle straight down into the cage and break the tab. That's why it never happened on the down-tube; the angles are wrong.

I finally got fed up with buying new CF cages and bought a King titanium cage. I figured I'd replace the CF cage on the down-tube when I finally broke it.
I haven't broken it yet, so I have been mismatched for about a year. Oh, how gauche!

The CF cages look good, but I'm too rough on 'em (at least too rough on the ones on the DT). The Ti cage is indestructible (I can pick up the bike by it).

I know this isn't what the OP asked, just felt like sharing...

Yup, Indestructible !!!!

+ 1 again for King Ti .... It is also flexible .... it likes to bend ...
where as as stainless, carbon, aluminum don't.

They weight next to nothing ....

I like the Easton's I have on my bike. Only dropped a water bottle in the back of the SUV driving to my bike club; never on a ride.
