My boss knows I like riding. Made me this deal:

$5 for every mile I ride per week . . . . riding becomes my job.

but my hobby becomes the stuff I used to do as "work."

Wouldn't be such a bad deal when I hit the 150mi/week mark.

I wonder if I could switch hobbies so that bike repair becomes my hobby.

So, the diameter of your wheel is what, 500 cm? ;)

Sounds like a good time to move 20 miles away from the office.

Holy crap! Have your boss talk to mine. Commuting 5 days will get me $575 a week!

Does the deal still apply if you quit your job? It'd be a lot easier to put in 300 miles a week that way.

You have to do the math. For me it would be 150 miles x $5 per mile x 250 days = $187,500, The pay would be good, but i would be burned out before too long.

If only I could find a gig like that.

Then my wife would actually want me out riding every day.

If work is my new "hobby" I guess I could tell my boss that I'm not too into it anymore and take up a new hobby.

Sounds like you could be playing with fire there. Let us now how that one goes down with the boss.
