I suspect the seller knows not of what he speaks. Based on the dropouts and the seat post clamp, the frame does look like an Aegis but I have never heard of any relationship with Serotta.

Can anybody confirm?

This is one of the reasons Serotta stopped selling replacement decals to anyone except known professional refinishers and dealers.

People put Serotta decals on some of the most astonishing POS' and tried to palm them off as Serottas.

To my knowledge, Serotta never outsourced any bike except the Aluminum bike.

I had a BMW sticker on a 74 mercury cougar when I was 14.

That's the bike version...

I once put a SONY name plate on an old Emerson TV. Most folks never questioned it. Some even said, "Yep, Sony...you can tell by that picture...can't beat the picture of a Sony." Jeff N.

Dave,

Perhaps you can get to the bottom of this. Many years ago, when Serotta's offerings were frames like the Special and the Nova, there was one lower priced frame called the Titan. I've always been a lower priced frame kinda guy, so that's what I got. The brake bridge was brazed in upside down, which meant I couldn't use my Del Mundo tires, but little else. When I brought that little flaw to the attention of the guy at the shop, I was told that the frame was not made in Glens Falls like the others. I assumed it was farmed out - was I wrong?

I've seen a few Titans over the years but not many. My impression was that the read end of those bikes came prefabbed and they were then added to the front triangle that Serotta made in house. It's a long time ago and before my time there but that's what I remember hearing. So take it with a good grain of salt.
