I agree. But I'll wait for the pricing first :)
That said, I wrapped my hands around 7900 a while back, and the shifters are much smaller and easier to grab for small hands which I like.

Agree with the wait for the price announcement, but the features look cool to me. I'm ambivalent about the aesthetics, but maybe it'll be better in person. If nothing else, I want the 11-25 cassette for my current compact setup.

It looks like a Honda. And although Honda makes good cars, that is generally not a compliment.

I like the brakes, the wheels and, to a lesser extent, the shifters. Almost indifferent to the rest.
Looks nice!I like it too except for the chainring. No matter how much I look at it I can't warm up to the design of it blending into the crank arm. Didn't care for the original DA either.
In the past Ultegra has been one of the best values in cycling and I hope it remains that way. I now have three and can see buying a fourth in the next year if the price is right.

I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way about Sony for the most part.

Maybe for the Red, but Force and Rival just looks cheap to me.

I second this.

On another forum a poster from the UK mentioned RRP 900 GBP. If true that corresponds to a 50% increase over Ultegra SL.

i hope not, esp if they are replacing regular ultegra with it as well...seems like they would leave a big hole in the lineup that way....

Will this be the end of 'long reach' calipers for Ultegra?

This statement of opinion as fact is getting kinda old.

Officially the "High Grade"-"long reach" brakes are not part of the Ultegra group, so I imagine they'll be available. Just to be safe, I bought a set a while ago. I was right, the 6600's were replaced by the 6650's.
The new group looks nice.

I did like the fact that the ultegra chain comes with a removeable link, I just wish campagnolo would offer something similiar. I also hope the pricing is not as high as predicted.

As I understand the 6700 will replace both the regular Ultegra and the SL.
About a 50% hike will follow the precedent set when the 7900 hit the market. In Europe at least it was - and still is - about 50% more expensive when compared to the 7800.

Twice as ugly for 50% more? Sounds like a bargain to me.

I hear you... My Acura (Honda) Integra had 181K miles and never needed front brake rotors. My Mercedes has 25K miles and needs front pads and rotors... $1200!!! If Honda or Shimano made my car I could put that money into a whole new wheelset.

I heard the new price hike is because Shimano components are now free-range, hormone-free, non-GMO and certified Organic.
Maybe I can rock my own victory garden and plant my 6500 stuff. I should have a new group by harvest time--which, incidentally, seems to coincide with the beginning of CX season.

Actually seems like the official studio shot doesn't do justice to the finish. On real life snaps (Bikeradar (http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/shimano-launch-new-ultegra-groupset-20440)) the crank has a nice interplay between mat and polished surfaces and doesn't look as over-sculpted as on the Shimano's studio shot.
Still, will look disproportionately massive on a classic look/skinny tubes frame; and likely an aesthetic disaster with third party chain rings.
