Earlier tonight I think I saw and heard a meteorite become a fireball!.

Me and my 15 y/o were walking our dog when a sudden flash of blueish light lit the sky. When we looked up, we saw a streaking fire ball. It diminished with a burnout.

A good minute later, we heard/felt a boom. Very strong, but distant.

My son comes back in and determines that at the speed of sound, that noise that we heard would have had to been 20 KM away to have been associated with the flash we saw. Assuming, it was a minute between the flash and the boom.

A few more Googles and he finds this

At one minute 15 seconds between the flash and the boom it puts us dead on 25 KM.

I think that may have been the coolest I have ever seen!

It was Fn Whack!

"Several calls came to Richmond International Airport, but spokesman Troy Bell said tower workers did not see anything unusual."

Troy went on to say "Our guys are always seeing streaks of green light shooting across their vision, among other things. Bill over there in the corner said that if the elephant was pink instead of fuschia like normal, well, that would be unusual." Tower worker George Melvin interrupted to ask if there was, by any chance, a large white rabbit involved.

At the end of the runway, an enormous hedgehog could be seen looming above the trees. "Dinsdale" was all it would say.

I see an Area 51 vacation in your future.
