Anyone know a source for a quill stem that takes 31.8 bars? I am building up my new to me CSi and have a matching a threaded, steel fork. I prefer to use my FSA compact bars if possible and they are 31.8.

Thanks.

interesting question!i have never heard of or seen one though.my guess would be that you may have to go one of the custom builders for an item like that.

You can always use the clunky quil to threadless stem adapter.

It looks better than most adapters and you could get a 31.8 threadless stem to use as an alternative. The spacer can go above or below the stem and VO sells that nice matching spacer too.

Not so great photo from VO:

I have several of those by other manus...all lighter than VO's 277 gram offering. I am just wondering about an allinone solution.

I used a Dimension quill adapter (http://www.niagaracycle.com/product_info.php?products_id=420645) and a Ritchey WCS 4-axis stem with Ritchey 31.8 bars and it came out great. The color of the Dimension adapter matches the Ritchey black perfectly. The only problem is that the Dimension is heavy, but I live in Florida so I don't care since there are no hills.
Anyway, it's an option.

Here is a photo.

Thanks, that's the first black one I have seen. There aren't many stems for 31.8 bars in silver, so the black adapter will work well with a black quill adapter.

Adam, let me know how this works. I'm dealing with the same issue for my girlfriend. The bars she likes only come in an OS size.

John, they work well. I have a few silver ones here. In fact, I have a heavy Zoom adapter in silver you can have, if you want. I am just not crazy about the silver ones with black stems.

I really don't know why someone just doesn't make one. It seems there is a small market for nice quill stems. Especially in silver.
